This is Lisa H. from Pleasant Valley WV. Lisa has worn Carhartt for over 30 years! As a young girl she worked in an arctic lined traditional coat at her family’s General Store and Exxon station. Over the years her family sold some Carhartt clothing in the General Store and by 1996 she felt Carhartt was popular enough to start a seperate business, selling only Carhartt.
Today, Lisa’s business is in ”The Old General Store” and she enjoys telling her customers about the history of her building dating back to 1882. Lisa H. has seen allot of changes to the Carhartt company over the years, with new products, styles and colors but she says “Carhartt is a great company to work with, they make quality products and if there is a problem they stand behind their products”
Isaac L. has no choice but to wear Carhartt clothing because his Mom sells it! He is your typical hard playin’ , rough housing, fun lovin’ boy. When there is anything going on you can bet Isaac wants to be right in the middle of it. I guess these are his apprentice years!! During the past couple of years, Mr. Isaac has grown through several sizes and styles of Carhartt clothing made especially for kids. The pocket t-shirt he is wearing in the picture is an item that most “Big Boys” have in their work clothing drawer and for good reason. The K87 pocket t-shirt washes and wears much longer than most others.
Some day, I am sure in the near future, Isaac will dictate what he will and won’t wear for his Mama and I sure hope he chooses the Carhartt label !
Here is Isaac at age 1 wearing the ever popular duck bib overalls in size 2 T. He did allot of crawling in these and the double knee did it’s job. Carhartt even makes bib overalls for newborns! Sooooo Adorable.
H. Taggart is from Mansfield Ohio and uses his Carhartt clothing for both work and leisure. Taggart is a field technician & equipment operator for Clean Harbors Environmental Services and has traveled quite a bit over the last year while working for them.
Some of his favorite styles are his quilted traditional duck jacket, his sweatshirts and his bib overalls. When asked why he purchases his Carhartt clothing at Hammel’s in Pleasant Valley, WV he said, “Carhartt clothing is warm and durable and the prices here are good.”
Carhartt bib overalls are probably the single best selling item year round, with the obvious lined for the winter months and unlined for the milder weather.
Rod B. from Graysville Pennsylvania is a mechanic for The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT).
He recently found his way to Hammel’s in Pleasant Valley, WV to buy Carhartt work clothing.
Rod chooses Carhartt brand because “They are durable”.
He has been a mechanic for many years and likes to wear his heavy weight sweatshirt to work in. He was pleased to find his size on the “deals & steals” rack and commented on the good price.
Carhartt has been manufacturing work Clothing since 1889… it’s no wonder they have such a good reputation!
Craig M. from Columbus Ohio is a project manager and equipment operator for Clean Harbors Environmental Services, and has been with them for 4 years.
Clean Harbors is North America’s leading provider of environmental, energy and industrial services serving over 50,000 customers, including a majority of the Fortune 500 companies, thousands of smaller private entities and numerous federal, state, provincial and local governmental agencies.
Craig’s work has brought him to the northern panhandle of West Virginia, near Pleasant Valley, where he visited Hammels Carhartt Clothing shop in February and commented that “the prices are excellent!” Craig wears allot of Carhartt clothing both for work and leisure and some of his favorites are his thermal active jacket , his socks , and his beanie hats. He chooses Carhartt brand because they are durable! Craig was asked if he had any comments to add to his blog interview and he said ” Shop at Hammel’s!”
Craig, like many, travels with his work, and now knows that Hammel’s can be his Carhartt Connection.
The term “overalls” in the fashion world has evolved greatly since the Oxford English Dictionary marks its first usage over 200 years ago. Originally the term simply indicated an outer garment that was worn over the trousers. Later it meant an outer coat, and it eventually developed into a synonym for a boilersuit.
When people think of overalls in today’s context, they likely think of bib overalls. This is the contemporary design that has a bib-like upper portion that attaches over the shoulder. Although the exact definition of overalls is constantly in flux, the term has continued to be indicative of blue-collar work attire.
Even with the unusually hot weather in the Pacific Northwest this winter—this being the hottest January on record—I have still been cold working out on the docks of Puget Sound. I’m not one to complain, but I’ll come home after a hard day’s work and spend hours trying to get myself warm. Last week I decided that I had had enough of this charade and decided to find a solution.
I noticed that many of my coworkers wore Carhartt clothing at work, so I decided that that may be the best route. After doing some shopping online, I was able to find several Carhartt insulated overall models that were guaranteed to keep me warm. After one week in my new digs, I’m glad to say that I no longer have to suffer through with the frigid conditions.
