Just like his Granddaddy’s Daddy!

This young farmer is learning to take care of livestock and no doubt his father will be his teacher. But as the title of this post implies… the teaching of farming has and always will be handed down and taught hands on from generation to generation. The equipment will get more advanced but the honorable occupation of farming will remain. Carhartt overalls outfits farmers and workers, in quality garments and has always acknowledged the role they play in this great country. FFA is supported by Carhartt .

True leaders are born not made.

Only certain people are cut out to be leaders. They are not afraid to be in charge and it comes natural to them.

I believe true leaders are born with that natural ability, it is not learned. Don’t get me wrong great leaders have to always keep learning but the natural leadership skill was already there.

Meet Mark, he is about as comfortable as anyone can get, even when the pressure is on.  The ”hot seat” is where most leaders are tested. Mark is a thinker and because he is not impulsive on the job, he has earned the respect of many. And when things are not going as they should, he is not afraid to ” ruffle feathers”.

A great leader should have the knowledge and skills to do any job that he is overseeing. Today, too many college graduates get hired into positions of authority and have never physically done the particular job that they are now over seeing… What is wrong with that picture?.. but it happens. Good thing there are older, experienced laborers doing the work who don’t want to be the boss!!

Carhartt is a well respected work clothing manufacturer who knows what laborers want. From workers in bib overalls to the supervisor in casual looking denim and twill… and more.

When you think of Carhartt work clothing you think of insulated cold weather gear. Not So!

Where ever there is work to be done, no matter the temperature, Carhartt has the right work clothes and overalls. Decades of improving features and adding extras is what keeps Carhartt so popular with the working person.  Today’s cargo shorts even have a cell phone pocket. Now that’s keeping with the times!

There’s no such thing as a Hobby Horse!

Hobbies are one thing Horses yet another. Every little girl dreams of having a horse to love. They have had the gold fish, the hamster, the cat , the dog, the lizard?, and they will never ask for another pet as long as they live!!!??!!! If they could just have a HORSE!!!

Next question. Will you promise to feed it?, love it?, exercise it?, clean stalls?, ….. Can I have that in Writing???   All is fine and good in the nice weather… but then January rolls around and the snow is drifting… it is 15 degrees out and putting on lined overalls and going to the barn does not sound like fun!…. Sled riding yes….. cleaning stalls :( . now the real test begins. Did we get the promise in writing?  Will I give my kids the horses they want? Do they fully realize how much work it will require?  Stay tuned for all the answers and more…. right here on Work Clothing blog…where everyday has the potential to be dramatic!!

Labor intensive Hobby

So many hobbies can be picked up and put away indefinitely. Motorized toys get parked, sporting equipment, thrown in a trunk, games and puzzles in a cupboard. But choose to have a horse for a pet/ hobby and you had better be committed to just as much work as fun. Small pets leave small messes and horses…..well let’s just say…. put  on your Carhartt bib overalls and rubber boots, cause we have work to do, and if you are lucky you won’t get blisters on your hands.

Why have a horse then? you ask…..   Well it’s the best feeling, and it is hard to explain..but I’ll try. Most of us have had a dog or cat and know how nice it is to pet them and have them respond to the affection. Many of us have ridden a bicycle or dirt bike or quad and know what a rush it is to go, go, go!!!  Now put them both together and then some to describe the feeling of climbing onto the back of this living machine of an animal and command them to go with you. Slow, medium .. or may favorite, gallop fast up to the top of a hill!  Your heart is racing and the horses heart is beating and you are naturally high on the experience! You can talk to them and they listen… oh they are the best listeners and great at keeping your secrets!

A nice  brush down, fresh water  and some sweet feed and all is well!

Dream becoming a reality

My previous post showed the freshly excavated hillside and here is our proposed 23 million dollar dream school. What a joy to think that a triple A school, whose graduating classes are under 100 students, will soon boast such a beautiful facility.

The junior high students who will attend here don’t have a grasp on what is coming! But they will!  This project will require dozens of construction experts and the local Carhartt bib overall dealer has already made them aware of just how close they are to a store that specializes in quality work clothing. In the next two years of construction, I am certain that many of us will be watching closely so as to not miss a thing!

Great things start with a vision.

One local individual had the first vision and now a 23 million dollar high school is being built on this hillside, and from what I am told, it will be one of the nicest facilities in  the state of  WV. Hamilton Carhartt had a vision and even with humble beginnings he knew what he was going to become and never lost sight of it. Visions are realized with time, hard work and investments by people who believe. Who would think that a simple piece of clothing, such as Carhartt bibs would turn into a multi- million dollar manufacturing business.

Antique childs play!

With all the new fangled gadgets to steal their attention, there was no doubt that these children were finding the antique toys very entertaining. How refreshing!!  Just so happens my little man was wearing his Carhartt jeans, manufactured by a company that was founded in 1889!

Wow, I wonder what kinds of toys the children of that day were playing with.

Practice makes Perfect!

You are never too young nor old to enjoy fishing! It is a serious sport that involves hours of practice, a keen eye and an occasional farmers’ tan… The only thing that applies to this little guy is the tan… and maybe some time spent casting in his backyard with a washer replacing the hook.

A certain business that has been “practicing” for over 200 years perfecting the quality of their clothing is Carhartt! Hamilton Carhartt spent many hours, with his limited resources, determined to make a great-quality pair of bibs… As all of us can tell, he has succeeded tremendously! Today, Carhartt bib overalls are the best quality around!

I’d rather hoe corn then shovel snow!!

Pick a season, pick a tool !  That’s right, every season has work to do and tools to do it and for that matter a style of bib overalls that are just perfect for working in.

When the icicles are dripping you know lined bibs are your favorite and when sweat is dripping off your nose, and you are hoeing corn, some comfy unlined denim bibs are the ticket!  Some ice cold water tastes so good in the heat of the summer… but no matter how hot it gets, this girl never wishes for winter!! Case closed!
