Denim overalls take first place!

It’s country fair time here in West Virginia and all the country kids are excited. All the preparation is done and now it is time to take their animals and 4-H projects to show and be judged. These kids and their families have  put allot of time and effort into being ready for the show.

Livestock is the most demanding project to take and for obvious reasons. The grooming, feeding, and leading takes quite a commitment.

If I were to judge the work clothing best suited for all the activities involved in a livestock project, I would give denim overalls top prize and for good reason.  Overalls can be worn alone or over other clothing. Bibs are comfortable to work in and Carhartt overalls will wash and wear for a long time, making them a great value.

The Carhartt overalls Patch Perspective

Now I have been in the business of selling Carhartt clothing for some time and never has coverall meant to cover the diaper! look closely…Most of this picture is a pair of Carhartt overalls but look closer, the little black hanger has a diaper cover clipped to it!  They are adorable. And just for perspective, the cover is about the same size as the front bib pouch on the daddy sized bibs!  Tiny back pockets and oh so cute a tiny Carhartt patch!!!  This will melt even the biggest Carhartt worker!!

Hava great day!

You can’t go wrong with Carhartt Flame-Resistant Clothing

Three industry regulations govern workplaces and clothing  in regard to electric arc flashes and flash fire hazards. Carhartt flame- resistant clothing  meets all three standards.

If your job requires FR clothing then risk is involved. Why risk your safety? Carhartt has been around since 1889 and they don’t take product development lightly. When they get involved in a new product line, they study the current leader then get competitive!  With the attitude to meet or beat everyone in their way. I personally trust any Carhartt product I buy. I have been reminded many times that Carhartt= Quality.

Farmer in training

This little man is in his glory because he has total control over these adorable goats.  I can picture him in denim bib overalls with a bucket full of grain and don’t forget a straw hat! It doesn’t matter how spitty your hands get when you go to a petting zoo, because the residents are so lovable and appreciative of the visitors. This particular breed was not very vocal, but we got an earful at another pen! What a fun day. One that  we shall never forget!

Country Classic Camo

People will tell you that black goes with anything or casual denim goes with anything…but go to the country and you will see CAMOFLAUGE everywhere!

When huntin’ season rolls around here in West Virginia, every other person will be wearing camo insulated bibs. During the fall and winter here, people take to the woods and they want to be warm and hidden. Carhartt makes very durable work camo clothing. Shown here is the youth jacket which is very popular also.

Classic Carhartt unlined bib overalls

posted by Hammel @ 12:46 PM
July 15, 2010

This set of bibs is  “NOT FOR SALE!” They were originally purchased by my parents for their first born grandson, who is now 25 years old! But that  only starts the story. Around 1985 a small pair of Carhartt unlined bib overalls were ordered for Brendan, who was born in January. After he grew out of them his younger brother was next. As owners of a general store in a small community, the idea to pass them around, “Just for fun!” seemed perfect. Well, over 2o different children have worn these bibs and they look great!. Faded and soft….just right!

My three children who are now 13, 11 and 3 have worn them…of course! Who would have ever thought such fun could come out of  these little bibs. I smile every time someone asks about them.

Watch this Birdie….I can stand on my toes…and…and.. never mind… you are still bigger than me!  A quick conclusion and overall I didn’t have to burst his bubble… he is a big boy! This is not a normal bird!!

Overall clad workers tend nicely to all the residents here at Living Treasures. What a joy to visit here with my kids. Lots of oohs and aahs and giggles as the animals tickled your hands while you fed them.

“As my Granddaddy used to Say!” An overall fun series-11

As my granddaddy used to say, ” Tonight we will be dining on RAREBIT !”  Well if that didn’t get us excited… Presentation is everything and when you throw in an unknown word… Wallah… everyone is interested. The word rarebit is a deliberate attempt to glamorize the dish…What is it? you ask… Let me  begin by saying that my granddaddy, dressed in his finest unlined overalls, together with his huntin’ dog, would go to the woods where the thick brush was and chase out rabbits!!! Yes… Rarebit is a fancy word for a cheesy dish, Welsh rabbit!   What fun…. uncovering old terms!

“As my Granddaddy used to say!”An overall fun series-10

As my Granddaddy used to say, ” You’ll have to HITCHHIKE into town”  Most of us have heard that phrase but never really knew the origin. This American coinage probably dates to the First World War. American boys were in training in military camps and when they would get a brief furlough they would head for home. The boys would HIKE until a car or truck approached going their way, then HITCH a ride.

I use allot of sayings that have been handed down through the generations. I recently learned of another word used in place of hitchhiking. It is called “Slugging”. In the D.C. area where traffic is thick, commuters will park their vehicle and get a ride with a complete stranger… the trade off is that the driver can now use the other lane..HOV high occupancy vehicle lane and get where they are going faster!!  If anyone has more on this topic…do post!   I would  not want to close this post without reminding readers that my Granddaddy… looked great in his insulated overalls. He is shown here in a dress jacket but I remember the farmer!

You Wanna Do Lunch?

What fun! This gentle camel is so well  trained that he knows better than to grab the whole bag and run! He stands there so patiently as if to sweetly beg for ” Just one more !”

The deer on the other hand were very noisy making a crying noise. There wasn’ t enough food in my bag to satisfy their demanding song. What  a great day, but oh so hot! I was of course dressed wrong to get to ride a camel. Carhartt bibs would have been the perfect attire. Pretty much all of the animals  ate the same treats… wouldn’t it be nice if our kids were so easily satisfied?!
