NFPA 70E, NFPA2112, ASTM, NESC, and OSHA… do any of these sound or look familiar? It all has to do with safety standards for workers in a multitude of occupations.
Carhartt Flame-Resistant Clothing meets all these requirements with their FR clothing line, so don’t worry whether or not you understand any of it… If you have to be FR compliant, trust Carhartt.
When you think of a brand like Carhartt, lined bibs or insulated overalls comes to mind. Several years ago Carhartt decided to listen to the suggestions of their customers and offer a full line of work shirts and casual shirts. Allot of color and variety is shown here and every season they add new choices.
It is all of fun to retail this line of clothing. It never gets boring. If you know of Carhartts reputation for quality and durability … trust it again for new products.
Most of us can honestly say we own a few pair of blue jeans. Some of them old, used for working in, and some of them new, for going to town in. Well, farmers often times have this same method to their bib overall wardrobe. Many country folk have good Carhartt overalls for special occasion’s!! Now that’s country!
Barn dances are a very informal, very lively get together with lots of dancing and fiddle music. If you ever have the opportunity to attend one… go for it! you will smile and I bet you will be tappin’ your toes before it’s over!
Who would have ever thought something as simple as bib overalls could get complicated. After several years retailing the line, I have found that when someone asks me one question… “Do you have bib overalls? “I come back with at least 4 or 5 questions to determine which variety of bibs they are looking for. First of all Carhartt bib overalls are the only brand I sell, so that’s not a question. I would ask them, lined or unlined? denim or duck? what color? what size? leg zippers or not? It’s fun to visit with people so even if my web business takes off, I would never give up my retail store. Love to meet and visit with all types of folks!
Technology not needed? Only when we are discussing the work clothing best suited for railroad workers. Men’s denim bib overalls have remained virtually the same since the days this picture was taken. But all else has changed drastically. Think of how hydraulic machines and lasers have made hard tasks much simpler and precise, not to mention less back breaking.
If Hamilton Carhartt could see the high tec machines of 2010 wouldn’t he be amazed. Hamilton, the founder of Carhartt clothing, began in 1889 manufacturing work bibs. I for one would love to see the sewing machines used in those days.
Farming organically is a science. It is complex in that you don’t solve problems after they
occur, you use methods to prevent them. Therefore you must have a great knowledge of crop rotation, manure and compost, and natural pest control. All of these things must be done properly for the soil to stay productive and for you to avoid infestations. Most fertilizers and pesticides are strictly forbidden, so you better know your stuff.
If you go to the supermarket today, you will pay a good bit more for organically grown products. Many people won’t have it any other way. So many health problems have been connected to chemicals used in food production. Awareness is at an all time high and farmers are taking heed.
Isn’t amazing that the old pappy farmers of a century ago, likely wearing a good ole pair of Carhartt bibs, had it all figured out. They did it all naturally, the chemicals were introduced as modern and high tech. and allot of the old ways were lost. Now we are desperate to regain that knowledge and live healthier, longer lives.
It is a summer day here in WV and it is 95 degrees and humid. This picture looks inviting, it makes me think of a glass of iced tea. Reality is that on the day this picture was taken, we were all in Carhartt insulated bibs shoveling ice and snow and dreaming of summer, while drinking hot chocolate with marshmallows.
I don’t know about you, but at my house in the winter, the furnace is set at 72 degrees and we always complain we are cold. Then in the summer when the AC isn’t down on 70 we complain we are too hot! Go figure! Does this sound familiar. We are touchy spoiled humans that a few degrees one way or the other determines our contentment.
I love having seasons here in WV. I think it makes us appreciate more.
Why do we enjoy looking at country things? Why does a beautiful sunset make us feel good? The answer is aesthetics.
Aesthetics is the outward appearance: the way something looks, especially when considered in terms of how pleasing it is.
We decorate our homes with “stuff” that has no use, that are just for looking at. Why? I think it is because these things make us think of other times or places. They disconnect us from here and now and take our focus. The important thing when choosing “stuff” to decorate with is to figure out where it will lead a viewers mind and will that produce a pleasant feeling in them. This simple display of a barrel of flowers and a watering can lead a person to a feeling that this will be a place that is comfortable and homelike. Not all fancy and high tech. Guess what? you are right! and the girl running this shop might even be wearing overalls and bare feet!! This is not NYC!
Color does count! For decades, when someone said “Carhartt Clothing” a brown shade comes to your mind. Many people, who wear work clothing, have to wear uniforms… day in and day out there is no variety, no decision. There are benefits to this in that you never have to decide what to wear and you don’t have to have a work wardrobe. On the down side…. it is boring!!!!
Carhartt lined bib overalls now come in a variety of colors because Carhartt knows that people want choices. It has gotten very fun for ladies who like Carhartt quality clothing as well. This pretty jacket, in a shade called raspberry is just as durable as the good old brown ones… but I bet the girl who buys this one will not treat it the same. This will be her going to town, clean up, jacket! The old brown one will be her work coat.
So my advice to you, if you wear a uniform to school or for work,,, is when you clock out and change clothes …. go drastically different and have fun with colors and patterns… Step out of your normal zone.
Style and Class describes this picture. Now that is how the farms of yesteryear looked. Very impressive to say the least. The bright white silo, yellow and green John dear tractor really set off the gambrel roof barn.
To complete this picture, we need to see the proud owner of this farm in denim bib overalls. A farm of this size and style is something to be admired. Large farms today are metal pole buildings and they do get the job done nicely but sure do lack the charm that we see here. Admire and appreciate!
