NFPA 70E, NFPA2112, ASTM, NESC, and OSHA… do any of these sound or look familiar? It all has to do with safety standards for workers in a multitude of occupations.
Carhartt Flame-Resistant Clothing meets all these requirements with their FR clothing line, so don’t worry whether or not you understand any of it… If you have to be FR compliant, trust Carhartt.
Color does count! For decades, when someone said “Carhartt Clothing” a brown shade comes to your mind. Many people, who wear work clothing, have to wear uniforms… day in and day out there is no variety, no decision. There are benefits to this in that you never have to decide what to wear and you don’t have to have a work wardrobe. On the down side…. it is boring!!!!
Carhartt lined bib overalls now come in a variety of colors because Carhartt knows that people want choices. It has gotten very fun for ladies who like Carhartt quality clothing as well. This pretty jacket, in a shade called raspberry is just as durable as the good old brown ones… but I bet the girl who buys this one will not treat it the same. This will be her going to town, clean up, jacket! The old brown one will be her work coat.
So my advice to you, if you wear a uniform to school or for work,,, is when you clock out and change clothes …. go drastically different and have fun with colors and patterns… Step out of your normal zone.
The year is 2010 and big industry rules the world. It is a well oiled high tech. machine with lots of computers. It runs constantly…24-7. And with high yield, high tech, comes diminished quality. Back in the day, farmers got up at the crack of dawn and worked until sunset and depending on the season that could easily mean 14 hours of constant labor. Overalls are a common uniform of these hard workers. They take much pride in this trade.
When it’s country fair time, the men and women alike show much enthusiasm in taking their prized produce, animals and canned goods for exhibit. Farming is not about getting rich. It is about quality and pride and love of nature.

Watch this Birdie….I can stand on my toes…and…and.. never mind… you are still bigger than me! A quick conclusion and overall I didn’t have to burst his bubble… he is a big boy! This is not a normal bird!!
Overall clad workers tend nicely to all the residents here at Living Treasures. What a joy to visit here with my kids. Lots of oohs and aahs and giggles as the animals tickled your hands while you fed them.
As my granddaddy used to say, ” Tonight we will be dining on RAREBIT !” Well if that didn’t get us excited… Presentation is everything and when you throw in an unknown word… Wallah… everyone is interested. The word rarebit is a deliberate attempt to glamorize the dish…What is it? you ask… Let me begin by saying that my granddaddy, dressed in his finest unlined overalls, together with his huntin’ dog, would go to the woods where the thick brush was and chase out rabbits!!! Yes… Rarebit is a fancy word for a cheesy dish, Welsh rabbit! What fun…. uncovering old terms!
My favorite summer things are bare feet and denim overalls! Talk about comfortable! When the farm work is done, just take off the boots and socks and feel the green grass or cool water or even the squishy mud on you tootsie toes. Now you’re talkin’! And bibs, well they stand alone when it comes to work or play clothes that are comfortable! no waist band squeezing you! County life! LOVE IT!
When you think of Carhartt work clothing you think of insulated cold weather gear. Not So!
Where ever there is work to be done, no matter the temperature, Carhartt has the right work clothes and overalls. Decades of improving features and adding extras is what keeps Carhartt so popular with the working person. Today’s cargo shorts even have a cell phone pocket. Now that’s keeping with the times!
My previous post showed the freshly excavated hillside and here is our proposed 23 million dollar dream school. What a joy to think that a triple A school, whose graduating classes are under 100 students, will soon boast such a beautiful facility.
The junior high students who will attend here don’t have a grasp on what is coming! But they will! This project will require dozens of construction experts and the local Carhartt bib overall dealer has already made them aware of just how close they are to a store that specializes in quality work clothing. In the next two years of construction, I am certain that many of us will be watching closely so as to not miss a thing!
Here’s a vision… You are hungry for apple pie… Do you choose the one in a white box with generic looking labelling one or do you choose the one in the kraft brown box with colorful labelling and a picture of an apple tree… I would guess.. and even bet… that even though the pies may be exactly the same, that most will choose the one that looks old fashioned , an apple pie, just like Grandma used to make!
Presentation is everything! Marketing is huge! We love restaurants, like Cracker Barrel , that take us back a few years… to a quieter time. When we imagine that people didn’t have problems!! Families got up at sunrise and worked only during the daylight hours!!
Wake UP! Shift work is commonplace and we live in a busy world. But, We still love the county feel! Hammel’s Carhartt Clothing shop is all about country appeal. So if you are ever in Pleasant Valley WV and you want to visit a truly historic General Store, stop by! Get a lollipop out of the old hanging scale and put your wrapper in the mason jar that sits on the antique candy case! Enjoy the atmosphere and if the owner isn’t too busy, she will share a story or three!
If your job requires you to function outdoors regardless of the weather, then chances are you have or need a rain suit. I recently realized that all rain gear is not created equal. The rubbery yellow coat that you wore as a child, will not do! Just dress yourself in a water proof , air tight rubber coat and try to work… you will quickly see how wet you get from the inside out!! The non- breathable rubbery coat will make you sweat and defeat the whole purpose.
I found that my waterproof , breathable, mesh lined rain coat from Carhartt is great! Last fall, I wore a heavy sweatshirt under my coat and stayed dry and warm at a football game on a 35 degree day sitting on metal bleachers in the pouring rain! It made me a believer in Carhartt!
